Truth: I severely underestimated how much energy it would take to move ourselves out of our apartment and into our first home.
Second truth: I’ve never been happier.
We’re one week into home ownership and each of the last seven days have been an exhausting whirlwind of pure bliss. We started our home journey back in October when we broke ground on our new build. Catch up on that post HERE, and also HERE for more details about our full experience building with Veridian!
We’ve had some of our immediate family visit, and it was such an exciting but foreign feeling to us to actually be able to host people in our home. Our apartment wasn’t large enough or setup for that, so we purposely built our home with entertaining in mind.
I’m so passionate about home design and decorating my space, and have a bit of an irrational fear of sharing it until it’s completely “done” (HA, as if that will ever be the case) but I’ve also loved sharing our progress on social media. When I asked on Instagram if I should share some of it now, the answer I got was a resounding “YES LET’S SEE!”
So, here is where our home currently stands, seven days post move-in! You’ll see that I’ve (obviously) gone with a very bright style, with a lot of white, light & warm woods, with a touch of calm, coastal blues throughout the house. I’m a budget shopper so a good majority was purchased at Target, Wayfair, and IKEA. Proof that you don’t have to spend thousands on every piece to create a space you love!
If you have any questions on anything specific, leave me a comment and I’ll let you know where it’s from!
I wanted the kitchen to be very bright, and it definitely turned out that way! Maybe I’ll learn to love cooking here?!
Our owner’s bedroom! Spa-like is the feeling I’m going for here, and I still have a lot of work to do (window treatments are up next!) but it’s getting there. Our bedding is from Boll & Branch and also Brooklinen, and it’s the first time we’ve ever had nice bedding! AND, a king-size bed! It’s heavenly.
This couch is in our Flex Room, which is a space that has the potential to be anything you want (office, study, etc.) We’re making it a formal sitting room with a lot of framed photos, albums, etc.
The patterned floor below is in our Powder Bath and it’s probably my favorite thing in the whole house. I went for a Serena & Lily vibe and it looks so pretty in this space.
This is our screened-in porch, but it’s still missing the screen! It will be finished when the weather warms up, and we plan to spend a LOT of time out there.
Our Great Room is not even close to done, so for now, you can see just a little bit of it until we get more furniture ordered š
