The nerves are about 1,000 times higher when you’re photographing another photographer! And that’s because they know so much more than the average person about posing, great light, awesome locations, etc.! So the pressure was on to give Caitlin and Philip the BEST experience AND images for their engagement session!
Honestly, those nerves vanished almost instantly because Caitlin is just the sweetest, kindest person. We’ve followed each other on social media for years and I knew we would get along so well in real life. I jumped out of my chair when I saw her email asking me to be their wedding photographer, and I’m just so flattered, honored, and excited for it! She is SO great at what she does as a wedding photographer herself, but I’m glad that it’s her turn now and I get to spoil her as a bride-to-be!
We’re both located in the Madison area and she knew she wanted to do her session at one of the locations she loves most – Pheasant Branch Conservancy. We paired that spot with the tree-lined streets of downtown Middleton, which is almost right in their backyard! Caitlin and Philip live in Middleton (on Madison’ west side) so they know the area well, and it just felt appropriate to shoot there.
I secretly prayed for GLOW and and gorgeous sunset, and we definitely got it! The light over the rolling hills at Pheasant Branch was absolutely perfect. We even had their cute Doodle, Porter join us for a few photos and he did such a good job! I think he has a future as a puppy model 🙂 And of course, Caitlin and Philip were AWESOME and I’m so in love with their images. I’ve been keeping up with her wedding updates on her blog here and I’m SO excited to see everything come together in November! For now, enjoy just a handful of my favorites from their engagement session!!
