A Wesley Update

November 12, 2019

This one is for you if you’re: 1. Obsessed with your dog to the same degree that I am (warning, I’ve hit an extreme level) OR 2. You’re an animal lover in general and like seeing pictures of other people’s pets.

If you’re neither of those people, I’ll let you know right away that you’re probably not going to get anything out of this post 🙂

Adam and I have been married for almost 5 years. We don’t have kids yet, but we do have one spoiled pup named Wesley. Disclaimer: If you already know our story, some of this will be redundant. Sorry! But I have to start somewhere!

Wesley has been with us for almost 4 of those 5 years and has been the object of our overwhelming affection since the day we brought him home. I knew from the very beginning, when our 8-hour road trip to Ohio to pick him up turned into a 12-hour nightmare (snow storms in April) that our new life with Wesley would be nothing short of an adventure.

He was a challenge as a puppy. And that’s putting it nicely.  I’m not sure if it’s his Bulldog nature that made him so stubborn and hard-headed, or if we just got lucky that way, but training him pushed us to a level of frustration that I didn’t even know was possible. There were literal tears, some nights and I thought we may have been the worst dog parents in history because he just didn’t seem to want to learn ANYTHING.

But, he was cute. Maybe the cutest puppy ever, and that worked in his favor.

Fast forward 4 years, and he’s still a stubborn little thing, but with far less energy. He’s actually really wonderful – he loves most people, and he loves them HARD. He has a playful personality and a tennis ball is better than life itself.  He listens pretty well, when he feels like it, and has the funniest personality. That part is DEFINITELY an English Bulldog thing.

His greatest joys are, again, tennis balls, tug of war, nap time, keep away with any toy, snuggling with mom, and treats (if you have the right kind). He hates going for walks, the wind, rain, or precipitation of any kind.

Lastly, I’ll leave you with a few cute photos from the last couple of months, which is really the part everyone loves, anyway!! Enjoy!!

You forgot that picture of him that 🎃 Halloween that he was dressed as a (I think it was) dinosaur. That was one of my favorites. But he is cute whether he is dressed up or just being Wesley. There is just something so cute and irresistible about those Bulldogs!

Oh yes! One of my favorites too!! I wasn’t as good about taking pictures of him this year, whenever he sees me grab my camera, he runs away! 🙂
