A Wisconsin Countryside Engagement

September 12, 2019

A few weeks before their engagement session, I got an email from Patrick.  He said something like, “I’m not sure if it’s possible, but Ashley loves sunflowers, if there are any around…” It was the sweetest thing that he would think of something that she loved, without her knowing, and suggest that we somehow include it for their session.  And of COURSE I had to make it happen 🙂

Ashley and Patrick are so easy-going and relaxed.  Conversation with them comes so naturally (especially when it comes to talking about their cat, who has the BEST name, by the way!!) so we had an amazing time wandering around this gorgeous property.  Ashley fell in love with The Landing at 1841 and was certain she wanted it for their location, and I’d say she made a REALLY good call!  Look how stunning it is!!

Wisconsin weather has been so finicky lately, and if you’re from the Midwest, you know it can change in an instant.  We left their session with no rain in the forecast, and half way through their session, found ourselves huddling under a balcony for shelter from the storm. I’m glad I had my clear umbrellas with me – I grabbed them, and the bouquet of sunflowers for Ashley, and we braved the last few sprinkles in order to get in more portrait time!  These two are troopers!!

The great thing about storms is that once they pass, they leave you with the most amazing, dewy, glowy light.  And that’s exactly what we had to end our session.  The sunset was just gorgeous and Ashley and Patrick look so incredibly perfect in front of it.  Ashley told me she’s a country girl (just another reason we get along well!) and these portraits definitely show off the beautiful Wisconsin country side!

Ashley and Patrick, you were an absolute joy to photograph and spend the evening with!  I’m so grateful that I have the chance to be part of this special season, and I can’t WAIT for your wedding day!

Enjoy my favorites from your session!!
