I can't wait to show you what it's like to be a KS Bride or #KatieSchubertSenior !

It seems like yesterday I met this oh-so-sweet wedding planner while working together on one of our amazing couple’s wedding days.  I knew as soon as we were introduced that we would get along extremely well and have a great working relationship, but never could I have predicted that this would also be the beginning of an amazing friendship!

Molly is a wedding planner for Events to a T, a Milwaukee-based team of incredibly talented women. She and I get along well not only because we both have an intense appreciation for organization and a passion for the wedding industry, but also because she loves & cares for people so well. That truly comes through in her personality and the work she does.

It is an honor to walk beside her in this incredible industry, and I’m so happy to have her as a guest blogger today!! Yep, we’re doing this the good ol’ fashion way: Q&A style!  Molly was kind enough to gives us some insight on a few things you may not know about hiring a wedding planner (*hint: it truly can be an option for everyone!!) But before you keep reading, go take a peek at the Events to a T website to get a small glimpse of the amazing things they do!!

Hi everyone!

My name is Molly, and I am a Lead Planner at Events to a T.

A little about me… I have always had a love for organization and design, which led me to my desire to be an event planner. When I’m not planning one of a kind events, you can find me curled up on the couch planning my next trip (red wine in hand, of course) or discovering new restaurants and coffee shops around the city with friends!

Three years ago, I began my journey in the wedding industry. I had always dreamed of being an event planner, but never thought it’d be possible. It took one meeting with Tiara, founder of Events to a T, to realize I could make my dream a reality. I began my first season with the company working as an intern. From the start, I’ve made it my mission to take on every opportunity to learn all that there is about this growing industry. My desire to learn has been key to my development within the company. In just three short years, I have grown from an intern to a lead planner.

A common question I receive is, “What is your favorite part about being a wedding planner?” There are a million things I love about my job, but I’d have to say my favorite part is how unique each of my couple’s are. Every event has a different vision, so my workday never looks the same. I am able to create new designs with an entirely different staff and space, every day. This type of work environment allows me to create unique bonds with not only my couples, but also with the vendors they have selected to be a part of their wedding day.

Q1: Okay, break it down for me, what does a wedding planner do, and how does it fit within the wedding planning process?

Molly: A wedding planner is essentially the bride’s eyes and ears on wedding day. We will be there from sun up to sun down ensuring that vendors are arriving on time, and all details are being met to perfection. When it comes to hiring a planner, it is important for the couple to know just how much they want to delegate to a planner. We can assist you in planning your day from start to finish, or we can just be there to coordinate the day of. It is a personal decision that each couple has to make, but I believe hiring a planner will ensure your wedding day is a stress-free, blissful success. If you’re interested in a full plan package with a planner, I would recommend hiring them shortly after your engagement. Once your planner is brought on, they can help you find the venue and vendors of your dreams. If you are interested in hiring a planner for day of coordinating, I’d recommend booking as soon as you have your venue booked.

Q2: What’s different about the entire wedding planning experience with a planner, versus a bride doing everything herself?

Molly: The biggest difference between hiring a planner or being your own is the stress involved. When you decide to be your own planner you are taking on every responsibility for your day. This includes coordinating vendor arrival, setting out all décor, and resolving any issues that may occur. Our goal, as planners, is to alleviate those stressors. We want your wedding day to be blissful, calm, and full of love. When you hire a planner, you are essentially hiring a second “you”. We will be your voice when it comes to decisions being made amongst vendors, ensuring your décor and details are exactly how you’ve always dreamed they would be.

Q3: A lot of, wait, scratch that, MOST couples these days are on some sort of a budget. How can today’s modern bride hire a wedding planner without totally breaking the bank?!

Molly: You can certainly plan your wedding on a budget, and still have a wedding planner. At Events to a T, we have three different packages designed to fit our couples. Here is a little glance at what they would entail!

The Tiara Package: This is perfect for couple’s who aren’t sure of their vision for their wedding day, and want the expertise of someone who knows the industry best. We will plan your day with you from start to finish!

The Flower Package: If you are a bride who has an idea of how you want your dream day to look, but still want some assistance elevating the design, this is a great option for you! This package allows us to grow your ideas into a beautiful, polished design.

The Veil Package: This package is great for couples who want to be the decision maker during the wedding planning process, but need someone to execute their vision on the day-of. We will ensure your detailed planning comes to life and you are able to enjoy the day stress-free!

Q4: What’s the most important thing for a bride to think about when it comes to planning her wedding? How does she avoid “the overwhelm” of too many options, decisions, and sources of inspiration?

Molly: Wedding planning should be a fun, creative experience that allows you to design an event that encompasses your unique relationship with your fiancé. Here are my best tips to fully enjoying your planning process.

  1. Don’t over think it. I believe the best place to start your wedding planning is to decide how you want to feel on your big day. Some bride’s dream of a whimsical, royal wedding, whereas others want their day to feel organic and effortless. Once you decide on a theme, the rest of the details will come together so much easier!
  2. Eliminate the option for too many opinions. Every bride wants their loved ones to feel included in the planning process, but it is important to remember that the reason for the planning is you and your fiancé. When it comes to decision making, offer 2 or 3 of your favorite options to your loved ones. This allows for inclusion, without losing sight of your dream!
  3. Be present. This is a once in a lifetime experience for you and your fiancé. Including your soon-to-be in your planning allows for a fun experience for you both. Your wedding day should be a reflection of your relationship, and what better way to encompass that by planning it together!

Happy Wedding Planning!
