You’ve seen it happen…
You take a beautiful, crisp portrait with stunning light. You can’t wait to share it with friends.
You upload your photo to Facebook, and it looks…. underwhelming.
The crispness, is gone, the colors are blah, and it doesn’t even look like the same photo.
Sometimes, we fall victim to believing that our images will be viewed at their absolute best no matter what. But that’s not always the case, especially online where there are SO many images shared every day, that sites have been forced to come up with a way to handle all of them. Most of the time, this means intentionally sacrificing quality.
Even if you don’t have a big fancy camera, you still want your photos to look nice and be represented well! There are a few ways to make sure that when you hit that ‘Publish’ button on Facebook, your images will look as good as they should!
The first way is the easiest, especially if you take photos on your phone…
Go to your Privacy & Settings – tap Settings
Go to Media and Contacts
Tap to select Upload Photos in HD
The second way, is to make sure that you have sized your images correctly! If you’re exporting images, make sure they are sized at 1,200 pixels wide. If they are bigger than this, Facebook will automatically size them down, which will likely impact the quality of the image!
Following both of these guidelines will make sure that your photos are viewed on Facebook as beautifully as they should be!
